There are a number of ways in which you can get involved with us.
Volunteer for Home-Start
There are many opportunities for volunteering within Home-Start, both working directly with families or supporting those who do. At the heart of our charity are our home-visiting volunteers. These Volunteers must have parenting experience and, before they are matched with a family, go through a training program.
Volunteers can gain Open College Network accredited training by completing our Volunteer Preparation Course.
We also have need for other volunteers to help run our local schemes. We are particularly interested in hearing from you if you have the following skills to offer:
· general business management
· financial and legal expertise
· IT knowledge
· human resources experience
· PR & media skills
The volunteers who manage our Schemes are called Trustees, and they also receive special preparation for their role with Home-Start.
Both areas of volunteering are very rewarding don't take our word for it - read the personal experiences of some of our home-visiting Volunteers and of our volunteer Trustee's.
Family life can be hard and challenging for many parents. Loneliness, relationship breakdown, bereavement, physical and mental illness or even multiple births can have a profound effect on families. With your help, Home-Start can be there to help parents cope, to help them towards independence and a better future.
Home-Start depends heavily on donations from companies, charitable trusts and people like you to fund our work with parents and children. Everyone needs help at some time in their life...so go on, help us to make a difference to a child's life today.
